Size Chart for the AFX FX-39DS Dual Sport Helmet
HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR CORRECT AFX HELMET SIZE.
MEASURE YOUR HEAD. Determine the circumference of the widest part of your head by using a flexible tape measure. Generally, the widest part of a person's head is the area 2.5 cm (1") above the eyes and ears. However,
we suggest measuring at a few points both above and below that line to determine the greatest measurement before referring to our size tables. We also suggest testing the fit of a helmet one size smaller and one size larger then what the chart recommends.
No helmet can provide protection if it's too uncomfortable to wear. If you would like further detailed instructions on how to determine your correct size please look at our AFX Helmet Fitting Guide.
Comment: I really like this helmet, but if you have fat cheesk you might have to replace the cheek pads (easy to do) . It fits my head well, great visibility and well made.
Dual Sport Motorcycle Helmet
Comment: This is a great dual sport helmet, good fit and finish. I very happy I got it.
AFX FX 39 Dual Sport Helmet
Comment: I purchased a pair of FX39 dual sport helmets after my fly trekker was damaged falling from a 7ft shelf onto concrete floor. The AFX is an identical shell, however the interior is much more comfortable and the "quick release" latch system is much nicer than d rings. The only negative is the breath guard that diverts your breath from fogging the shield is too small for my big nose. I had to trim it a bit. Other than that the helmet is excellent quality and very comfortable. I greatly prefer it to the fly trekker, Joe Rocket dual sport and for people with big heads (XXL) it fits better than the Shoei Hornet or Arai XD 3.
AFX FX39 DS Helmet - Nice Helmets
Comment: This is a great helmet. I can't wear most helmets because they all seem to put pressure on my forehead. I guess I have an oblong shaped head. This helmet is the first one I've come across that fit me and didn't cost like 500.00. I'm very pleased. I use it on my ATV/UTV. I can skip the goggles because of the built in face shield. I'm gonna get the tinted shield for those bright sun lit days. But you can wear sunglasses under the helmet too w/o problem.
AFX FX Dual Sport Helmet
Comment: The helmet was comfortable. Looks great. Found out that the clear visor + my sunglasses leads to polarized distortion. Lots of wind noise. With visor on expect severe buffeting. Venting was great. Overall I would reccomend this helmet for adventure riding, or even cruising the backroads, but take the visor off for extended driving of 55M.P.H.
Dual Sport AFX-39 Helmet
Comment: This is a great helmet and great fit for my XXL head. It is perfect while riding my KLR for on and off road uses.
AFX Dual Sport Helmet
Comment: This works awesome for dual sport adventures. Red is glossy not matte (hard to tell from pic). Would def recommend.
Excellent Adventure Helmet
Comment: Finally got to test ride my new helmet today. It was shipped rapidly, I just had no time. Fit: excellent, the cheekpads are a little snug for me though. Visor stays in position and the venting is EXCELLENT (over 100 F here today). Quick Release fastening is superb, even works well with gloves on. Try that with a D Ring helmet. I chose the Hi Viz yellow, and yes, it is vizable... for miles. Great helmet, Excellent service....
AFX FX-39DS Dual Sport Helmet Solid
Comment: I really like the helmet. It is comfortable and a great deal for a great price. It is not too heavy, which is always an issue. The only thing for me is that I have a very small head and I went with a small instead of an XS, since I ordered on-line. Wish I'd gone smaller.
AFX DS Hi-Vis Helmet
Comment: I bought the hi vis yellow and love it. This is my second AFX dual sport helmet and I love both of them. The yellow does not stay hi vis like it first was shipped. The sun fades it to a regular yellow. Other than that it is an awesome helmet and I would recommend it to anyone.
AFX FX-39DS Helmet
Comment: This is my 2nd one of these, as I was very impressed with the first one . Great fit and finish, with a comfortable interior. Quiet at normal highway speeds, with good ventilation. Overall excellent helmet at very reasonable price.
Helmet Sizing is not accurate.
Comment: This helmet runs big. I bought the XL and it was too big so I now have the LG and it fits perfect. I have a lot of experience with helmets /not my first rodeo.
Functional cheap helmet ! AFX FX-39DS
Comment: Was considering a DS type helmet. Had tried a more expensive one on that was pretty nice but didn't fit my oblong head. Bought this because of the low price and am satisfied. It fits my oblong head and seems functional. Wore it once on a 300 mi spring ride with significant wind. Bothered a little bit by strong cross winds that made the face shield vibrate and tended to push the helmet sidewise. Popping up shield to fist open position helped in cross wind. Face shield fully down in tail and head winds OK.
Only real knock is the face shield doesn't fully retract like expensive versions. It is out of the field of view but visible when retracted. Since I ride with glasses and wrap around sun glasses over my glasses, the lack of a flip down sun shade doesn't bother me.
I think this is a significant improvement in safety over what I had been using. I like the quick release strap. Might like a better DS helmet when I settle on what I prefer helmet-wise but meantime this was a good investment as an introduction to DS helmet style.
Solid Helmet For Around $100
Comment: I have a helmet for pretty much every type of riding now, as this is for riding my supermoto on the street. It works great, it's comfortable, and I like the fit. The restraint system is very convenient once you set the length of the strap. I am surprised how well this cuts through the wind with having a visor. As long you're looking straight ahead it's fine cruising at 60 mph on a sumo.
I'd say the only negative is that it's pretty loud. Not a big deal for me since I wear ear plugs with this bike anyway. Combined with the mirror shield (extra), this helmet looks sweet.
Best Answer:I'm not sure but when you run your fingernail across the logo you can't feel the edges. I would think it is under a clear coat.. The helmet that I have is flat black and that makes it hard to tell for sure. Good luck.
I have the silver colored helmet and the DOT logo is painted on or is under the clear coat. You can not, on my helmet, get a finger nail or anything under it to remove it. I don't think it is a 'sticker'.
AFX FX39DS is a transformable dual sport offering that is perfect for you riders looking for a budget conscious helmet for on and offroad use. The shell is made of a poly-alloy and is available in a myriad of solid colors and graphics. To see all of the different color ways available, check out the individual product listings at Jafrum.com.
The FX39 is available in a huge size range from extra small to four X, and the fit is true to the size chart. These helmets will accommodate long oval head shapes, as well, which I’m here to tell you, can be hard to find. Let’s look at some features.
This helmet can be configured in three ways; the shield and visor together, just the visor by itself, and just the shield by itself. There are some goodies included with your helmet to help you facilitate this. The helmet will come from our warehouse with both the face shield and visor installed. To wear the helmet without the visor, remove the screw from the top and sides of the visor using the included tool. Install these included side plates where the visor connection would be. The small rubber plug included with your accessories goes in the open screw hole on the top of the helmet. To wear the helmet with the visor only, you simply remove the visor and the shield, and reinstall the visor. There is no extra hardware needed for the visor only configuration.
Ventilation on the FX39 is pretty good. The helmet breathes well. The only aspect of the ventilation I thought could be a little better is the switching. The buttons can be manipulated with gloves on, but they’re not comfortable to the touch, and they’re very small. The setup is fairly standard, with a two position chin vent for shield fog relief, two separate two-position vents near the top of the head. The two exhaust vents are controlled with a single, centralized switch. There are also two additional static exhaust vests on the rear of the helmet.
The liner of the FX39 is also pretty decent for the money. This liner is moisture wicking and removable and therefore washable. The liner comes out in the usual way, by first unsnapping the cheek pads. Then, remove the headliner from the back to the front. With the liner out, you can see the EPS foam liner that absorbs most of the impact energy in a crash.
