Best Answer:I purchased these boots at a size 11 and I don't purchase wide sizes but my size 11 would have plenty of room to move comfortably if I did have a wide foot. I think most moto boots are designed to fit any foot comfortably.
Gaerne manufacturers some of the best motorcycle boots available, and their
flagship models in both the street and off road categories rival the best in the
world. Gaerne is unique, though, in that they pay as much attention to their
entry level models as they do they're flagship models. The features of the
GX-1's aren't as fancy versus the SG12's, and they don't have quite the level of
all out comfort that the SG10's possess, but the quality of workmanship and
attention to detail is uncompromised. These boots are real nice.
FYI for our overseas customers, like the React boot, the GX-1 is available with
a Goodyear welt type sole. While there is also a molded sole version and soles
with heavier tread available abroad, they are not available here in the US.
The GX-1 is available in a black or a white color way, and in sizes seven to
thirteen. As per Gaerne's usual, the fitment is accurate to a professional grade
foot measuring device, like one found at a shoe store. I found these narrower,
though, than Gaerne's other three models. Not just in the foot, either, but up
passed the ankle, as well. So, if you have wider feet, or more pronounced ankle
bones, you're going to want to step up to one of gaerne's hinged and pivoted
models for sure.
The biggest noticeable difference between these boots and the others in the
Gaerne line up is the ankle system. The GX-1's don't have a hinge type mechanism
like the other models do. The ankle reinforcement is cleverly designed though,
and is only connected on the medial side of the boot at the ankle bone
protector. The panels of material in the negative space are arranged in a way
that the boot is still really flexible.
Another difference is in the toe area. The toe box is left open on the medial
side of the foot, as opposed to being completely covered in TPU. The toe box is
still very rigid, though, and offers plenty of protection for recreational
Protection is also found in the way of a TPU shin plate and metal toe cap.
