The FirstGear Kathmandu boot is perfect for the adventurous rider looking for a little bit of protection, but ultimately comfort above all else. It has many of the features of an adventure tour boot, like a textured sole and a buckle type closure system, but in a very soft, very flexible chassis that is good for all day long rides. These boots are part of a full line including the Kilimanjaro touring boots and the warm weather Mesh boots. Both of these options are available in tall or short versions.

These Kathmandu boots feature a full leather upper with a water proof and breathable Hypora membrane to keep your feet dry and comfortable. There available in whole numbered sizes eight to thirteen, and the fit is accurate to a Brannock device. The width is standard D, but the boots are very soft, despite being buckle type, and accommodate my E width feet no problem.

They have a twin buckle and hook and loop panel side entry design to provide a snug, secure fit. The toebox is reinforced, and the toe of the boot is protected by these rubber pads. The heel cup is also reinforced, with a reflective insert for added visibility. The ankles are protected by a non-rigid padded area on the lateral and medial sides of the boot. Also on the medial side of the boot, is a full length, heat resistant panel.

If you open the boot up, you can see the moisture wicking liner, and the removable insole. The outsole is made of a long lasting oil and slip resistant material and features a light tread design. It’s more aggressive than most street touring soles, but less aggressive than some adventure touring boots, making the sole very lightweight, but still offering a good grip on many surfaces.

Again, this Kathmandu boot from FirstGear is going to be a great choice for a rider looking to do some light adventure touring in all day comfort.
