El Bajo - literally translated it means‘The Short One.’Short perhaps in overall height, but never in performance or steez. Built on the same Goodyear™ welt bottom unit as its five-buckle Elsinore brother, El Bajo provides all the OG moto-presence but in a reduced two-buckle silhouette. The Icon 1000 line is one of my favorite lines of motorcycle gear style wise. Icon pulls from vintage offroad styling and applies it to high end apparel for the street. The El Bajo is the two buckled little brother to the popular Elsinore boot, and definitely has that vintage dirt feel.

The uppers are made of heavy top grain leather that’s available in two colorways, this oiled brown leather, and an all-black version. The fit is pretty standard American, so they are accurate to a Brannock lengthwise, with a good amount of room widthwise. They have a twin cast metal buckle set up on the medial side of the boot, but they’re just for looks. The cover flap is stitched across the foot, so if you set the buckles to a looser setting, a gap is created between the cover flap and the upper, so these buckles are obviously not an adjustment feature. This is definitely not a deal breaker, though, because the boots are nice and roomy in the instep, so the boots don’t really need any adjustment. And, these buckles are part of what make these boots so cool looking. The actual closure system is on the medial side of the boot in the form of this YKK zippered side entry.

If you unzip the closure, you will see the floating medial side ankle armor, and the water resistant gaiter. You can also see the removable insole. In addition to ankle armor, the El Bajos also feature a heavily reinforced toebox, with panel reinforcement on the outside of the foot, and a heat pressed leather shifter pad. If you look on the back of the boot, you can see the same branded heel plate that comes on the Elsinore boots. This plate is designed to absorb shock and promote sliding in a crash instead of tumbling. Also on the back is this padded rib area and a leather pull tab.
Lastly we have the Goodyear welted sole construction. Goodyear welted soles benefit from added water repelling qualities at the seam, and the ability to be replaced when worn. They have a medium tread, and are a light tan color on the oiled brown colorway, which is a really popular color combination on men’s boots right now, whether they’re motorcycle specific or not.

All in all, these Icon El Bajo motorcycle riding boots from Icon are an excellent option for riders on all types of bikes, looking for a short height boot with styling cues pulled from the vintage MX world.
