River Road Guardian Tall Boots Review

Comment: I ride a lot, and typically wear Military Boots. These fir very similar, though I wish wider sizes were available... pretty good boots, though.

Very disapointed

Comment: I've gone through two pair of these boots in the past 5 months. While they are very comfortable, the craftsmanship leaves much to be desired. The first pair began to rip after only about a week or so. The return process took almost two months but I was still hopeful. I've had the replacement pair for two month and they have begun to rip at the seams, the leather is cracking, and the sole is separating at the toe. Sure, you can't beat the price, but I would expect even $80 boots to last more than a few months. 1 pair=bad batch. But 2 pair=poor quality.

These Guardian Tall motorcycle riding boots from River Road are very unique. They are sort a hybrid between a light duty touring or adventure touring boot and a hiking boot. Why that’s so cool, is that you can jump on your motorcycle, head to your favorite municipal, state, or national park, and head right on up the trail, without the need for an extra pair of boots!
These are a fair weather boot. The leather upper is interrupted by these highly breathable mesh panels so these boots flow a ton of air, but aren’t waterproof. The closure system is also unique. There is a full lace-up system as you can see, but it is complemented by a zippered side entry. You still have to untie the boot to get them on or off, but you don’t have those annoying hooks near the top to come undone like you normally have on a tall lace-up style boot. The side entry also makes the boot much easier to get back on if you goof up and take your boots off after a long hike, and your feet swell.
They’re available in sizes seven to thirteen including most of the half sizes. The fit is generous width wise, as you would expect, so they will fit a lot of feet. The only thing I noticed is that the gaiter at the bottom of the tongue irritated the top of my feet a little when I first put the boots on. But, this went away quickly after wearing the boots for about a day.
Finally, the outsole is rugged, with a good amount of tread, giving you excellent grip on and off your bike. The insoles are very lightweight, and on the flatter side. If you need additional arch support or padding, there’s plenty of room to add some beefier insoles.
If you like the style and functionality of this Guardian Tall motorcycle riding boot, but would prefer it in a shorter height, River Road also offers a shorter height version of this boot called simply the guardian.
