Size Chart for the HJC CL-16 Helmet SNELL/DOT
Wrap a tape measure horizontally around your forehead. Select the helmet that is the closest fit to that size. A helmet should fit snug on your head. If it moves while wearing, it is too large. If it is painful to wear, it is too small.
Comment: Bought this for my son. He liked this helmet. Good mid priced helmet. Good price!
nice helmet but small
Comment: I measured between Med and large but The Large was really tight. Gave me a head ache right away. I upgraded to another HJC helmet in an XL and it was perfect
HJC CL16 Helmet Review
The quality of this product is worth more than its price tag. It came with a Pinlock Shield which is inserted in a secure fashion on the face shield and prevents your face shield from fogging up. It works every time and has really helped me stay safe compared to my other helmet.
Also the product came well packaged and the color that I bought had flawless defects on it.
I have another HJC helmet that is a medium so I went of that size. I do not know if that other helmet is the same model, however this new helmet that I bought is a little tight, so you may need to go up one size.
I highly recommend this helmet. You will enjoy it in the right size.
HJC CL-16 Helmet SNELL/DOT Review
Comment: You can't find another helmet of this quality, comfort or features for any where near its price. I'd prefer an Arai helmet, but this is my 3rd helmet in a row by HJC; it's too good of a value not to buy and I feel very comfortable wearing it. Very happy with this purchase!!! I also purchased a breath box, dual lens snow shield, and clear lens filter/anti-fog (I usually ride with sun glasses on during the day and yellow tinted at night).
Do NOT Second Guess it.
Comment: My usual preference is NO HELMET.
As a year-round cyclist however... Sometimes a FULL-FACE just makes the most sense.
I have owned the same FULL-FACE since 1997, and have been contemplating a "new" helmet for over 3 years. When the temp drops below 50, 40... NOTHING beats the chill like some GOOD thermals and a FULL-FACE helmet.
This one is AWESOME.
DO NOT overthink this one, JUST BUY IT.
HJC CL16 Helmet Review
Comment: I am new to riding and wanted to get a safe helmet to make my wife feel better. With this helmet being SNELL/DOT approved what more could she ask for. This is my first full face and I am amazed at how well/fast it forms to my head. In just a few times of wearing it I can tell the hard spots have molded. Great Buy. Warm too
HJC CL16 Helmet Review
Comment: nice helmet and great fit love the anti fog shield just thought the chin curtain came with it is all but is very nice
HJC CL16 Helmet Review
Comment: Awesome helmet for the money. If you get the breath guard make sure to remove it before you take the helmet off. It will scratch your face up if you don't. This helmet is made for more of a round head shape. It has to pressure point on the front right and left I had to brake in before it would fit comfortably. The shield is awesome and with the breath guard combo I never have to worry of it fogging up.
Comment: I'm happy with this helmet. The price is excellent for both DOT and SNELL certifications. I followed the sizing chart, but the medium I originally ordered was too big. I decided to keep it as a passenger helmet and ordered a small, which fits much better.
Comment: Best value for a snell rated helmet.
HJC CL-16 Helmet Review
Comment: Happy with this helmet.Looks great. The price is very good for such a quality helmet. Researched a lot of options. This was by far the best for the price.I purchased the size recommended by the sizing chart and it fits well. Can't wait fro the weather to break to wear it.
Comment: My girlfriend and I both bought this helmet in different colors and love them. They fit well and offer so much bang for the buck. I ride during the winter in NY and have had a terrible experience with fogging. It's freezing out and i've had to open my shield to defog. With this helmet, I don't have to open any vents and don't have to let any cold air in. For the price, you can't find a better DOT and Snell 2010 certified helmet!!!
At the suggested retail price of a hundred and forty bucks, the HJC
CL-16 has been one of the best helmet values in motorcycling. At the
Jafrum price of less than ninety dollars,
it’s nearly impossible to find a better deal on a quality helmet. The CL-16 is
constructed using an Advanced Polycarbonate Composite Shell that is DOT and
Snell 2010 certified. The 3XL size helmet is not Snell Certified although it
would pass if tested. This helmet has a very universally fitting head form and a
medium size weighs in at less than 3.5 lbs. We have all of the solid colors,
including black, white, silver, wineberry, and Rubbertone, which is a flat
charcoal color, and many of the graphics. We have full size runs including sizes
XS – 3XL but you should hurry, the more common sizes won’t last long at this
price… This lightweight shell houses the ACS, or Advanced Channeling System.
This is a true pass through ventilation system that channels cool air into the
helmet, and extracts hot, moist air out. There are adjustable vent ports in the
chin bar, for shield fog management, and in the forehead, for controlling the
airflow thru the shell. Hot air extraction is facilitated by the Venturi vents
in the spoiler and down near the neck line… If you look inside the helmet, you
can see the intake and exhaust ports that are incorporated right into the helmet
liner. This removable SpeedCool interior is made of a washable, moisture
wicking, and anti-bacterial material. The liner is fully removable and the cheek
pads can be swapped out for achieving optimal fit. To remove the liner, start
with the cheek pads and pull toward the inside of the helmet to remove. You can
then remove the head liner by starting at the back and working toward the
forehead… Remember to always wash liner items with a gentle detergent, and allow
to air dry. Also, avoid the use of fabric softener because it will negate the
moisture wicking properties of the liner… Next, let’s take a closer look at the
shield. This is HJC’s widely used HJ-09 shield system. This shield is UV
protectant and fog free with the help of the included Pinlock insert. Pinlock
inserts are used to create a fog eliminating dual pane shield and are a
convenient way to tint your shield as well. Full tinted shields are great, and
we have a great selection of colors that can really accentuate the look of your
helmet. You can see what a simple dark smoke shield does for the look of this
helmet. Despite the good looks, though, as a commuter, I prefer to use the
pinlock system. When I ride to work in the morning, the sun is bright and right
in my eyes, so a tinted shield of some sort is a must. But, on the way home,
especially during the winter months, it is nearly dark for the commute home and
a dark smoke shield would be too dangerous. So, I need to make sure I have both
clear and dark smoke shields with me at all times. And, because my bike does not
have much storage, I am much happier carrying around one of these Pinlock
inserts in my jacket or vest pocket, than I would be trying to find a place for
an extra face shield. Installing a Pinlock insert is easy. Start by removing the
face shield. CL- 16’s are equipped with the Rapid Fire Shield System. So, all
you have to do to release the face shield, is raise the shield to its most open
position and pull this trigger on the baseplate. These polycarbonate shields are
very strong and flexible so you don’t have to worry about creasing or breaking
one, although they will scratch so be careful as to what surface you rest them
on. Don’t forget to remove the protective film on the Pinlock insert and make
sure the silicone bead on the insert is facing toward the shield. Line up one of
the tabs and flatten out the face shield to get the other tab to fall into
place. You’re ready to go. Reinstall the shield by simply lining up the tabs on
the shield to the slots on the baseplate and press gently. This HJ-09 shield
system also features a locking mechanism to keep the shield sealed against the
gasket at speed…
The CL-16 is also a fantastic choice for winter riding and snowmobiling. For the
standard CL-16 helmets, accessories like breath boxes and neck curtains are
available to help manage shield fog and cold air. For the serious winter rider
that doesn’t take snow for an answer,
versions of the CL-16 are also available on our website. These special
helmets are equipped with dual pane shields that are available with or without
embedded heating elements. You can also get these dual pane shield systems by
themselves to add to your standard CL-16 helmet.
