Size Chart for the Speed And Strength SS2500 Solid Helmet
How to Measure a proper helmet SIZING: To measure your head size, wrap a tape measure horizontally around your forehead.
Select the helmet that is the closest fit to that size. A helmet should fit snug on your head. If it moves while wearing, it is too large.
If it is painful to wear, it is too small. For proper sizing, your nearest dealer will be able to help you get sized up. FITTING: Open the
chin straps and slide the helmet onto your head starting at the forehead. A helmet should feel snug. If it slides on easily it is too big.
It should feel tight to pull down. Make sure the inner padding fits snug all around. You should feel the padding pressing against your cheeks and head.
The last check for a proper fit is to test if it moves while wearing, there should be no movement if you shake your head. Place your hands on the helmet
and move it front to back and side-to-side. If there is a lot of movement, try a size down.
The SS2500 is Speed and Strength's hybrid helmet and can be used for both on
and off-road riding.
For less than two hundred dollars, you get a helmet that is both DOT and ECE
approved and has some great features. The SS2500 has a Tri-composite Fiberglass
Shell that is lightweight, strong, and uncommon in this price point. The helmet
I have here is a large and weighs in at about three and a half pounds.
There are different dual sport helmets from different brands that are focused on
different types of riding. This hybrid is definitely targeted more toward street
riding. One of the ways that you can easily identify the main purpose of one of
these hybrid style helmets is by looking at the aerodynamics. The large openings
on the peak visor allow a lot of air to pass through. This is an important
feature for a helmet that is going to be used at higher highway speeds. The peak
visor on the front can be removed using the aluminum screws on the side. Another
way to assess the main purpose of a hybrid helmet is by examining the shield.
You can easily tell whether a helmet is designed more with face shield use in
mind, as opposed to goggles. The
Strength's All Clear Sight System Optically correct, anti-scratch, anti-fog,
and UV resistant face shield is very sophisticated. They wanted to capture the
look and functionality of the off-road shape but still wanted to retain optical
correctness to maintain a distortion-free view for higher speed riding. The
flared bottom edge of the face shield, allows the shield to retain a flatter
shape, which improves image integrity. Goggle strap real estate is a little
limited on the SS2500 but they make up for it by adding a ridge along the back
of the helmet to help keep your goggles in place. The shield can also be removed
completely giving you a lot of versatility with this helmet.
The venting on this helmet is very clever. The chin bar has a vent that is
operated with a switch from the inside which keeps the front looking clean. This
vent flows air to the mouth as well as the face shield to help manage fog. The
top has two chimney vents that promote pass through ventilation. One cool
feature I discovered on this helmet is that if you start to get overheated, you
can open the visor and tilt your head back a little bit (depending on your
riding position, of course) and the shield will actually help guide a little
extra air into the chimneys. The vents are easy to operate while wearing gloves
and the large cutouts in the visor almost guide you to the location of the
The liner of this SS2500 is my favorite part of this helmet. The Cool Core
moisture wicking liner is removable and washable like on so many helmets
nowadays; but, what I think they nailed is the actual feel of this liner
material. You really have to wear this helmet to fully appreciate it. The feel
reminds me of material you might find in some high end athletic undergarments.
Almost like it was designed to be worn on a pwc or while operating an offshore
race boat. This liner will be able to handle any sweat, water, dirt, or mud you
may throw at it. The liner is easily removed and is designed more for simplicity
and breathability rather than a quiet ride so despite this helmet's street
focus, it does not have a neck roll. The cheek pads just snap in. You can get a
better look at this material as I take them out. The headliner is pretty
and Strength in its design. You have two snaps in the back and the snapless
hook and loop style attachment in the front.
This helmet is also fitted with the Speed Strap quick release chin strap. This
system allows for fast, easy connection with or without gloves on.
