Just received my jacket. The leather is great for the price. It is a very heavy jacket. Good protective padding The upside its heavy good protection. The downside its heavy. This was exactly what I was looking for. The 2x fit me perfectly. I am 6.2 and around 225 lbs and still have room to layer. I doubt you need to layer with this jacket.
Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my husband. Just as advertised, fits perfectly and offers good protection. Very nice quality!
This jacket is unbelievable , the quality and manufacturing can not be beat at this price . The jacket is way under priced . The pictures do not do the jacket justice . I am six foot tall and have a 45 inch chest and weigh 214 , so I ordered a XXL It fit perfect . Even though we just got through a major snow storm the jacket arrived in five days . I took the jacket out last night in 13 degree weather with just a tee on and was really comfortable had no wind penetration and the jacket could not have done a better JOB . The price and service can not be beat and Jafrum you have got a life time customer .
THANK YOU 111111111111
Unbelievable value!! Great quality. Very fast shipping… you guys are great!
This is the heaviest jacket I've ever owned. It is just about as heavy as the genuine Harley jacket I nearly bought for $560, and the quality seems about the same (minus the great Harley graphics). This jacket fits as claimed, though note that if you are buying a 4 or 5XL the sleeves may be a bit long unless you are over 6 feet tall. I bought the buffalo brown model, and it looks great. The leather is soft and pliable and does not look all shiny and new but more like you've had the jacket for a while. I highly recommend this jacket. Great price and perfect for cold spring and fall rides.
The overall quality of the jacket was great. Leather was thick and not too stiff. Great fit and feel. Only issue was with the nylon zipper. Several teeth broke off on the 2nd day I wore it. Returned the jacket with no issues and ordered a different one with a metal zipper.
This is a nice heavy well built jacket, but the size chart is not accurate. I lost some weight this year and my old leather jacket for cool weather is a bit too loose (size 48). My chest is down to a 46 with 36' waist (5'-9" & ~200lbs) and I bought the XL jacket per the size chart. It fit me just like my old leather jacket. I sent it back and ordered the large. The large fits me perfectly and I still have room for layering. This is a great jacket with lots of pockets and a great venting system. It should let a lot of air flow through.
Bought mine during the Clunker exchange program. Figured I couldn't waste a $40 discount coupon. Traded my old leather in for a new one. I'm impressed. Coat is just as heavy and fits better. The nylon zippers may pose a problem in the future but we'll see. This is a well made jacket. Looking forward to wearing it next riding season.
I wasn't in the market for a leather jacket but at this price I couldn't pass this one up. I ordered a size larger and was glad I did as it gives more room for layering. The leather was not overly stiff in the one I got and the features are fantastic. Thanks Jafrum for offering quality products like this one.
This is a nice heavy jacket, it's warm and functional. However, be cautious with the lining around the little pockets for the armor. I've had two start to come loose. In fact, one is still duct taped. Overall, it's a good jacket, can't beat the orice.
Heavy well made jacket. Make sure to give time to break in. Buffalo leather thick and warm. Storage space galore. Love the styling, would recommend this jacket to all. Removed the armor, not my thing. Have seen 400 to 500 dollar jackets that are not as well built. Buy this coat!!
I am impressed with the quality and features. Heavy leather, metal zippers and nice linings. I am 6'2" with a 52' Chest and 275 lbs. The size 4X from the chart was right on the fit. The jacket has good range of motion and sleeves cut long for reaching the bars. I would recommend this jacket, especially at this price.
This jacket was a PERFECT FIT right out of the box. I ordered this jacket in a medium size as I am 5'10" and buy shirts with 34"/35" sleeves. Heavy weight, warm with inner liner and teh vents are just enough to keep you cool in the warm sun.
Great buy, nice heavy jacket, but with plenty of vents to keep very cool on a warm day.
This is my second leather motorcycle jacket from Jafrum. I've been riding three seasons on my first purchase and this was a Christmas gift for my son. The jacket is heavy leather, the zippers are strong and durable, and the many pockets are well designed and thought out. It is warm and has a removable quilted liner for the colder temps, which I've ridden into the 40's with a couple of sweatshirts underneath. I almost exclusively buy MoCo products for my Harley as I don't want to skimp. For my leather, I buy Jafrum. The MoCo jackets are 4 times as much, but the quality, style, and prices of the Jafrum products are unmatched. Highly recommend Jafrum!!!
I cant say that I have top end of spectrum of riding experience, but I'm not a newbie, either. I researched like a nerd for over a month for a simple, good quality jacket that I could wear in 40 degree weather. I also wanted a company easy to deal with, especially with returns. I think I read every review on the web and this site regarding this jacket. I measured and ordered. I got the jacket in like 4 or 5 dys. I was blown away by the quality, options and the weight. It ended up being too big;my fault. The exchange process has to be among the easiest, simplest, and fastest I've ever used. Apparently, I forgot to stipulate on the exchange sheet what new size I wanted. They called me like with in a day to ask for a size, but call went to my voice mail. By the time I heard the message it was very late at night, so I just emailed them. They acknowledged my email <24hr. Again, 4-5 dys later I got the new jacket; fits perfect. I took it out today first time for ride on sunny day with an accuweather real time reading of 49 degree. The jacket worked perfectly! It's loaded with pockets. Jafrum has made me a huge fan and customer for life. Not enough companies left now with this kind of efficiency, attention to detail, and commitment to customer service.
Bought the Detour 8001 as a gift. He was very pleased...couldn't get him to take it off! He was pleased with the look, quality and storage pockets. I was excited with the price. Thx
Always wanted a leather riding jacket but have settled for fabric. At this price I had to give the jacket a try.....Love it! Quality construction ...great look ...rock solid leather. Looking forward to many miles of riding
The Detour 8001 is all that. A well constructed Jacket and functional. All the venting you will need on the road. Like most people stated, order 1 size larger for a better fit. This jacket is for serious bikers, it will take some time to break in but you will definitely be well protected from the elements and most anything that comes up.
At under $150, the 8001 is packed with features that make is a great all season riding jacket.
It is constructed out of 100% premium genuine buffalo leather that is available in brown with brass hardware or black with black hardware. This particular buffalo leather is very heavy duty and therefore tends to be a little bit stiffer then cowhide when it痴 new; so, your new jacket may require a little bit more riding to break it in. But, once it does, buffalo leather gets buttery soft and provides the ultimate protection, making it the perfect material for a motorcycle jacket.
The collar and lapels on the 8001 snap down to keep them from flapping. Unsnapping the lapels allows the jacket to be zipped all the way up. The front has these clever dual duty zippered panels. Unzipping the first zipper exposes a perforated strip for ventilation. Unzipping the second zipper exposes a small items pocket and an elastic key keeper. The front also has a zippered hand warmer pocket on either side. On the waistband, there is an adjustable buckle strap that allows you to adjust the fit of the waist.
The cuffs of the Detour 8001 are expandable to make it easier to put on and take off. This also simplifies liner removal, which we will get back to in a minute.
Moving onto the back, there are two zippered vents that open for breathability. These vents run the length of the 8001 and will allow air to flow through the jacket keeping you cool.
Moving onto the interior, there is a removable full sleeve thermal liner. This liner seals in your body heat and will keep you warm during the colder months. When it gets warmer outside, you can take the quilted lining out, exposing a mesh lining that promotes airflow and keeps the leather from sticking to your skin. To remove the liner, simply unzip the liner from the shell. Then unsnap the cuffs of the liner from the cuffs of the shell. The liner then pulls right out. There are pockets on either side of the liner for extra storage.
This jacket comes with a universal zippered stretch panel that allows you to attach your jacket to a pair of riding pants, giving you a complete riding suit. This feature helps protect your lower back from the elements as well as the pavement.
The Detour 8001 comes with CE certified armor in both the shoulders and the elbows. This armor is removable, and the 8001 does a great job of hiding it. The back of the jacket has a removable spine pad for added protection.
