Following the sizing chart, I ordered the XL which fits well. The buffalo leather is quite a bit stiffer than it's cow hide counterpart but it's still a great value. The liner works well in colder weather and the cuff hook n loop closures really help to keep the wind out. With a 44 inch chest the XL fits perfectly but leaves little extra room for any "layers" underneath. Overall it's well constructed and comfortable and am looking forward to the time when the leather is "broken in".

I was skeptical about ordering a leather jacket online since I prefer to try clothing on before purchasing. However, considering the price and good look of the Detour Leather Jacket, I decided to give it a try. I am 6', 210lbs., but slim build. All of my other jackets, sweatshirts, etc., are XL so that's what I ordered. Unfortunately, when the jacket arrived, it was too small. I then returned it for a XXL with no hassle. I was very impressed with the quality and look of the jacket and the fit, though still a little snug, was acceptable and overall, I am very pleased with the product. I will definitely order from Jafrum again.
This is the second 8005 I've bought from Jafrum this year. I feel ther the leather is a bit stiff, but in time it will soften. The stay cool liner offs a bit cheap and not altogether sewn all that well, but it does. do the job of circulating some air. For the price, It's still a great value for what you get.
Great look. Top quality leather. Fit good based on chart. Overall nice pokets, zippers and snaps. A couple stitching mistakes, but not bad enough to send back. Very happy with the jacket! Have bought other things from here, and always happy !
Being new to the bike world, I was searching online for a good leather jacket with protection in mind. Found Jafrum, great user friendly sight, saw this jacket and liked it. WOW, uber-fast delivery and what a great feeling quality product!!! Will definatetly tell all my friends about both the jacket and this website, kudos all around!!!!
This jacket was a good deal, overall. I had a hard time deciding on a size. I'm 6', ~190lbs. I first ordered a large, but that was a little short in sleeve length, and a little tight, so I sent it back for an XL. The return process was slow, but painless. That fits better, but now that my arms aren't as constricted, the elbow armor pads shift around constantly inside the coat and never seem to actually be on my elbows. The back and shoulder armor are fine. The leather isn't as heavy as I expected, but it's fine. With the zip-out liner in place, this coat is quite warm. Without it, the mesh liner feels a little cheap. The pockets (other than the massive front pocket) are also kinda cheap - thin, coarse fabric and not stitched all that well. I've had my jacket for a month or two, and one of my pockets has already developed a quarter-sized hole from gentle use. All in all, I like this jacket. It looks good, fits fine, and was a good price. It has room for improvement, but it's still well worth the selling price.
Very pleased with the weight and quality of this jacket, great price. I wasn't sure whether I needed a med or large, so I ordered both. I'm tall and thin, long arms, 40 chest, the large suited me best. Before returning the med, I showed it to a buddy who grabbed it up. This is a heavy-weight jacket, good defense against road rash it weighs about 6 lbs, all brass hardware. I liove in the north where its often cooler, so the extra weight is great most of the year. thanks for the great deal, x2!
Ordered at what I thought would have been correct size (wear large shirts and XL coats) so ordered XL, put it on and it felt too small however arms were more then long enough, chest was not real tight with sweatshirt and another coat on under it zipped up fine. This jacket fits like a glove and feels just as well without liner and a T shirt. THE only thing that is an issue was the snaps for the liner sleeves will not snap
Great price, very heavy leather, & will provide great protection.
The jacket is everything that was advertised and nore! It is heavy but would be very protective in a spill. Nice jacket! Good quality, perfect fit and very good price!
I got this jacket two weeks ago and as it was mentioned in reviews, I bought one size bigger and it really fits well, not tight and plenty of space for moving. Armor fits right onto elbows and shoulders. I am 5'11 and 220 lbs and XL was perfect size for me. This jacked is recommended for sure and wish you safe driving and green light all the time.
WOW Bought for my son for Christmas. It was what he wanted and he is super happy. I was very impressed by the quality and value. The sizing advice was great and it fits him very well. (and me well enought to borrow it or buy my own) It is heavier than expected and with the liner will provide plenty of warmth, but with the numerous vents, it will be great and protective for warmer weather. Could not be happier with the purchase.
Great jacket, better quality than I expected. Glad I bought it.
Ordered the jacket and have had it about a month. Im a 44 inch chest and ordered a 2XL, which is a 46. I could probably have ordered a 44 and be fine, but with the colder climates it might be a nicer fit with a sweat shirt on underneath. I love everything about the jacket (even the two concealed carry pockets on the inside). I especially like in the left breast pocket the cord and hook used for hanging keys for quick access. No need to take off the keys each and every time as the cord extends. Love the liner inside, has kept me warm enough. Only fuss that I may have in the future with the jacket is the back pad, in that, I will probably want to upgrade it to something stronger than a simple foam pad. Otherwise, love the look, feel and hopefully never have to experience the fall protection, though with the thick grade leather and armor, I feel confident I would be able to take a smack and slide well enough.
I'm a newer rider and this was the first time i bought a jacket online. A friend recommended Jafrum. I was a bit reluctant but love the jacket. As a borderline M/L I went for the large. It's fine for me but most people need to buy a size up. Looks and feels great. Lots of pockets and I hopefully will never find out how well the protective aspect works. Well worth the money!
This jacket is much more than I expected. it has a removable lining that works well. The armor is not too heavy, and gives one ample protection. This item is well worth the price.
It's winter here in Colorado, which means riding can be hit or miss. Today was definitely "hit" and was my first opportunity to try out the jacket on a reasonably warm, mostly ice-free day. Some observations: It's pretty heavy,,and it's the leather itself that is the major contributor. The armor is light and the liner is practically weightless. The leather is stiff and will certainly - well, hopefully - break in over time and wear. I am 6' 185 lbs and ordered an XL, per the sizing chart. I have to say that I've never had a better fit. I have long arms and this jacket is absolutely perfect for riding. I can't yet speak to the ventilation. I had the liner in and all the vents closed for a ride that started out at 39 degrees. I got plenty warm later when the air temp got to 60. i liked the waist adjustment belts and was able to get a snug fit with no drafts. I could not get a tight fit at my throat even with it zipped up all the way. I was glad to have a windscreen. There is a generous flap behind the zipper to keep the wind out. I might change out the armor, but it seems adequate. In summary, this jacket is a terrific value. And the looks are cool, too, without being over-the-top biker.
I decided to wear the jacket around for a couple of weeks before I wrote a review. I wish I bought two of them. At first I was skeptical-until I got the jacket. The leather was soft, and super HEAVY. The YKK zippers are solid, the snaps are all well made, and the braiding is nice and tight. Follow the size chart and you can't go wrong. This is a great jacket for the money, and I will definitely shop at Jafrum again.
I'm new to the work of motorcycles but I knew I wanted a few things: protection, comfort, and a classic look. This jacket has them all. It is hard to find these classic jackets with armor like this one has. Sizing is pretty good. My jacket is a small and is just a little big on me. To be fair though I'm 5'5" and 130 lbs so it's hard to find lots of stuff that doesn't border on being counted as youth or women's gear : regardless this is a great jacket; heavy for the winter but has nice ventilation and a removable liner for those hot summer days. And it makes it look like you've got a large chest and arms to get the ladies while you ride your metal stallion through town!
At less than 100 bucks, the Detour 8005 is an amazing value for a top grain buffalo leather jacket that combines that classic biker look with all the features you want in an all season riding jacket.
The 8005 is made using water resistant top grain buffalo leather and has antiqued brass zippers. The zippers have leather pull tabs to make them easier to operate while wearing gloves. The main zipper closure is askew which creates a double layer chest when fully zipped. This feature offers double the wind protection and helps hold that precious warm air against your cor+e. Just unsnap the lapels and unfold them to zip the jacket all the way up.
The front of the jacket has a unique snap and zip combination pocket that hides two additional pockets for small items and a stretchy cord with a spring clip for your keys.
The Detour 8005 has braided detailing that runs down the outside of the chest into the outward edge of the hand warmer pockets. This braiding continues across the back of the jacket as well.
Down near the hip area there is a waist belt with hidden snaps for an adjustable fit. While we are looking at the side, notice the sleeves have zippered wrists and additional hook and loop fasteners that make both your jacket and gloves easier to get on and off. The sleeves also have zippered vents on each forearm and underarm that allow air to move through your jacket, keeping cool on a warm day.
On the inside of the 8005, there is a full-sleeve thermal liner that is easily removed and is flanked on either side by pockets with single snap closures. This liner seals in your body heat and will keep you warm during the colder months. When it gets warmer outside, you can take the quilted lining out, exposing a mesh lining that promotes airflow. To remove the liner, simply unzip the liner from the shell. Then unsnap the cuffs of the liner from the cuffs of the shell. The liner then pulls right out. The inside also has a sneaky little zippered internal pocket at the lower back area.
This motorcycle jacket also has a stretchy zipper panel on the lower back that allows you to attach a pair of riding pants. This feature offers added protection for your lower back from the elements and the asphalt
The shoulders and elbows of the 8005 house removable CE certified armor. Very rarely would you ever have to remove this armor but if you do, simply locate the armor pocket and unfasten it. Pull the pad out and you are done.
