I was greatly impressed by this jacket as I tried it on for the first time. The fit and finish was better then expected, I guessed the right size and love the features. After two days of riding in the heat and humidity, I am thoroughly impressed. Now that I have the jacket, I will say the $149.99 price is appropriate. Do not be afraid to purchase this jacket.

Just have about 5 rides with this jacket but works great. Great air flow for those hot days. one review said to order 1 size larger.
I ordered my size and it was tight with the liner installed but I didn't order it for that. removed the liner and the fit was great. Great quality and great customer service.
I ordered the small, for only 49.99 and gambled on the fit. This jacket arrived and fit perfect (5'8 140lbs). I took the liner out and it is great in temps of 95 unless stopped for extended periods. It's a little heavy but the pads stay put and it seems well made. I highly recommend it.
I am 5'8 140 lbs and was looking for my first jacket. When I saw this on clearance for $100 off retail but only in size small I took my chances and it fits perfect. It feels well made and heavier than I thought. From the armor being where it should be to the zippers, this jacket is great.
I ordered this jacket a couple months ago and have enjoyed it in every way... i have used it to ride only a couple of times and it felt perfect the fit was amazing using the sizing chart. Another plus about this jacket ia it is comfirtable enough to wear on the day to day. I have been using it as a normal jacket, its that comfotable
I dont think i noticed when i bought this it had nothng but 5 star reviews so let me add to them. This is a great looking jacket that is one of the few not to long in the arm for me. It has armor all around and the liner works well too. It seems pretty durable although i have only worn it once or twice. The only downsides are like no internal pocket but it would be tough to put on in a mesh jacket. I think this was $ and id say its well worth it.
This is a pretty great jacket. The mesh allows for plenty of airflow when it's hot, and it also includes a liner and an outer shell for when it's cold or rainy. The sizing is generous and comfortable. The armor is great, too. Flexible, but clearly would be good in a crash. My only complaint about this jacket is that it is slightly too short in the front for me, but I have a long torso, so that will likely not be a problem for most other people. I still give it 5 stars.
I ordered the medium in this jacket -- it fits me snug -- but that is the way it should fit for riding not fashion. I have a Honda VTX ; I am 5'9" 165-170 lbs and my arms are about a 34". The jacket fits fine but I can see why people would be inclined to order one size up to give it that baggier feeling. But for me and the wind the medium is fine. One thing I did note is I cannot fold it up and squeeze it into my saddlebags (because of the body armor plates) like I do with my leather jacket. I live in south florida so I ride all year. I can use this jacket on warm and the liner should work for our brutal 60 degree winters (LOL)
I recently bought this jacket and I love it. Works well with all the features and pads. Looks cool and with the in/out lining works good at night and day for cool or warmth. Can't beat the price for quality and comfort.
i definitely recommend it for any fall rider who is serious about looking good, and staying warm.fall spring and light winter that is .. not to mention the superb price.
this is a great jacket at a great price I ordered one size up from what I wear I ordered a 3x when I wear a 2x and it fit perfectly make sure to order one size larger than you wear. The jacket let's plenty of air through to be cool but yet keeps you warm. I had the liner in wore a sweatshirt in 46 degrees at highway speeds it kept me plenty warm any cooler than that you will have to pull out the rain cover to use a windbreaker highly recommended
I was very pleased with the timely arrival. I was a little concerned about ordering based on the sizing chart but found the fit to be fine. It definitly looks like a much more expensive jacket than what I paid for it. Unexpectedly, It has 2 exterior front pockets I hadn't noticed on the photos. Pretty comfortable to wear and warm with the liner in. I haven't tried the rain cover yet. Overall a great value!
I'm wearing this jacket without the liner and it's great when riding in hot weather like Singapore. This jacket is very comfy and you can feel the air past through your skin. Overall, great buy.
this is a great jacket Got it in a timely manner and the fit is great. Used the rain jacket on the first time out stayed dry as a bone. Recommended to a friend he brought one for his son and he loves it.
My wife and I purchased 2 for our 3100 mile journey to New Mexico and back. Fantastic product....talk about versatility! Best deal out there!
Great fit and details on the jacket. Perfect for use in the desert. Jacket was a gift for my son. He likes it.
I ordered this jacket after reading reviews and watching the video. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The discription did not mention the two outside zippered pockets which a previous review wished for. The fit is good and the jacket is comfortable. This is my first armored jacket and is comfotable down to high 40's with just a t-shirt on unerneath.
This jacket is great! I got the 2XL thinking that it may be small but it fit very well and nice to boot! The added bonus is the included rain jacket that stays within the jacket so I never forget to bring it along. LoL The armor padding is nice but I have not yet had to use it. It is great in the 100F Houston summers that allow for protection and style. Buying my wife one also. BTW shipping was supper fast-got it in two days normal shipping. Will buy again from Jafrum!
This is an update to my earlier comments. I ordered a 2nd (blue) of these jackets. First was a red one. Make it 5 jackets from Jafrun. I got to ride and test my red one on a 48 mile ride and it was better (cooler) than I thought it would be. If you need a jacket (and rain protection) you should not miss out on this deal.
I received my jacket today. My order was processed and delivered very quickly. I have not ridden in the jacket yet, but I must say I agree with many of the other reviews. The jacket runs a size small and the zipper could be sturdier. But for the price it is an excellent choice. I am concerned about the reflective piping. It is black, as stated in the video. So I hope it is indeed reflective.
I can’t lie, this Merit jacket from Vega surprised me a little bit. For a fully armored motorcycle riding jacket at this low of a price, you come to not expect very much. In fact, you come to not expect anything at all. At first glance, this jacket looks like what you’d expect, the one hundred percent polyester shell is predictably a little coarse feeling, and the tall, heavily padded collar looks like a poor choice on what initially appears to be a jacket designed only for hot weather. But, then, you start to look closer at the features and there’s a lot of good things going on here.
The first thing I noticed is that all of the closures feature quality SBS zippers. Zippers are usually the first thing to go on any value priced or entry level jacket. You won’t have to worry about that with the Merit. In looking at the zippers, I also noticed that all of the seams are double stitched. Not bad.
The protection offered by the Merit is also actually quite good. What the jacket gives up in tensile strength with its polyester shell, it more than makes up for by having full CE armor in not just the shoulders and elbows, but in the back as well. Most mesh jackets offer just a foam back pad. You also get a zippered attachment in the rear to connect a pair of riding pants. Even this feature is well thought out. Vega used a strong but flexible material to tendon the zipper to the jacket to keep the zipper from ripping out of the polyester in a crash. They have also added high viz piping effectively to the jacket to increase visibility at night.
Adjustability is more than sufficient. Most waist adjustment, if there is any, on a jacket in this price point, will consist of nothing more than a hook and loop strap, which we do see here. But, on the Merit, it’s accompanied by a stretch panel and an expandable zippered gusset. You have adjusters on the sleeves, which are extra important on a mesh jacket to reduce buffeting, and hook and loop gusseted cuffs that are lined with a soft material so the polyester shell doesn’t touch your skin
The next feature I’m going to show you is what really impressed me about this jacket. Most mesh jackets will offer some sort of removable, waterproof zip out liner; and, while these do work to keep you dry, they do nothing to keep the shell of your jacket dry. Plus, if the liner is not installed, and it begins to rain, you could be soaked by the time you get the jacket off, liner installed, and jacket back on. If you do manage to get the liner installed before the rain comes, you are still stuck with water logged gear when you reach your destination. Enter Vega’s Amphitex system. The Merit hides a zip off, waterproof, windproof, and breathable shell in this little pocket in the back. With a little practice, you can get this shell out of its pocket and put on in just a few seconds, without taking the jacket off. Now, not only do you not have to take your jacket off to install a liner, but now you can arrive at your destination without a water logged jacket to deal with.
Lastly we see the removable, quilted thermal liner. With most mesh jackets, these are one hundred percent completely and totally useless. Without a windproof shell, a thermal liner has little or no chance at actually retaining any body heat. With the Amphitex shell installed, though, this liner will keep you comfortable with a light base layer under it down to about 50 degrees. Heavy layering could take you well below that. Not too shabby for a value priced mesh jacket.
I’m not sure just how this email thing works in regards to replying back to you all at Jafrum, But I just wanted to say thanks for answering my question regarding the Vega Merit Mesh Jacket for all seasons. It’s a shame that Vega no longer makes this jacket. It was perfect for me, and just what I was wanting. However I did go forth, and I purchased the Vega Mercury Mesh Jacket from you at Jafrum. I can hardly wait to get it. I will keep checking your site to see if anything else should come in. I am on your mailing list, so I do get notices… Again I thank you for the help.
