The Passport suit is an all new apparel item in Scorpion's XDR lineup.
Although XDR stands for extreme distance riding, you don't have to go far to
realize the benefits of this suit.
This thing is packed with features, but isn't overly heavy like you might
expect. This suit is made of a 600 Denier poly nylon and is available in two
color ways. The high viz neon yellow you see here, and a gray and black version
as well. All three color ways have high viz piping around the suit. Poly nylon
has been used for a while in this industry and it is still one of the best
fabrics for motorcycle apparel. You see, nylon by itself has very good tensile
strength but poor colorfast. With the color goes the strength. Polyester, on the
other hand, has fantastic colorfast but mediocre tensile strength. Combine the
two fibers together, though, and you have a high tensile strength fabric with
great abrasion resistance that won't loose strength with prolonged exposure to
sunlight. If it isn't broke, right? The Passport suit utilizes the H2O Blok
waterproofing system that consists of 4 layers including the waterproof coating,
the nylon material itself, a waterproof/breathable membrane, and a lightweight
mesh liner to promote airflow and breathability. The closure consists of a YKK
zipper with a rare earth metal magnet closure for fussless flap flapping. If you
open this suit up you can see the removable everheat thermal liner. When the
ride starts to get adventurous, pop this thing out and crack the vents to cool
things down. This suit actually vents suprizingly well. You have two velcro back
zippered vents on the chest, two vents on the sleeves, and two exhaust vents on
When it comes to armor, Scorpion pulled out the good silver. The armor in the
shoulders and elbows is Scorpion's Sas-Tec. This material is sort of a high
density memory foam. In addition to having excellent impact absorbsion, this
armor gets incredibly supple when it's warm, making it very comfortable.
This suit has very good adjustability. There are adjusters in both the waist
area, and on the sleeves as well.
Storage is also quite good with this suit There are pockets on each leg
including a map pocket on the left pocket. Some folks ask why you would need a
map pocket. "It's 2013. Get a GPS for cryin' out loud." Well, the answer is
simple. Touring riders use GPS systems to find the best roadways. An adventure
rider's goal is to find places where GPS systems don't work and the term road is
used loosely. There are also numerous pockets inside the garment as well.
