New for 2014, the Wicked Garden Mesh Jacket from
Strength is a great choice for you lady riders looking for a warm weather
riding jacket with just the right amount of ‘tude. This jacket is made up of
Fierce Mesh panels and AR-600 polyester, and is available in four color options
including this purple. We also offer black, silver and red versions. The
graphics are sublimated into the fabric, so they won’t chip or flake off, and
feature a wicked blend of sugary skulls and carnivorous frondescence
The Wicked Garden is available in a good size range, including sizes extra small
to double extra-large, and fits true to size according to the size chart.
Jessica typically wears a medium. She fits in this small, but it is a little
snug in the arms. The medium would be perfect.
The shape of the Wicked Garden jacket is very customizable. The sides of the
jacket have these adjustable buckles that work with this zippered gusset to
create the perfect fit.
Protection comes from CE rated armor in the shoulders, elbows, and the back.
There are no foam back pads, here. This is legitimate articulated CE rated
armor. This is a feature unique to Speed and Strength anywhere near this price
point. Running down the back of the jacket is hi viz piping to increase your
visibility in low light conditions. You have two choices for connecting the
jacket to your pants. You can sew half of the zippered tendon to a pair of
riding pants. Or, you can
feed these loops around your belt if you’re wearing jeans.
For storage, there are two zippered hand warmer pockets at the waist. If you
unsnap the collar, and unzip the main closure, you can see an additional hidden
zippered pocket. You can also see the removable quilted thermal liner. This
liner is perfect for the late night summer rides following a day at the beach,
where you may or may not have gotten too much sun. Riding on a cool, damp night
with a little bit of sunburn can feel absolutely freezing. This quilted liner
does a great job of taking the edge off. The liner also provides a little extra
storage, with a Velcro map pocket on the rider’s right side. If you remove the
liner, you can see the soft mesh liner that promotes airflow and mobility.
