Comment: I'd been looking for pants that will keep me warm and dry in cold weather. I thought that I was going to have to resort to camouflage hunting pants or coveralls until I spotted these. Not only are they very protective from the elements but they are very comfortable! I could hardly go wrong with the discount either.
Which of these pants would be best as over pants-- 8501, 2, or Landslide? I'm thinking the 8502 with full length leg zips. Also, are the leg zippers teeth or nylon coil type? Had a pair of tour masters with coil type and they failed.. Thanks.
These Detour 8502 pants are constructed using a durable, water and abrasion
resistant polynylon, and come in sizes to fit just about every body type there
is. They're available in regular sizes XS -- 4X, tall sizes m - 3X, and short
sizes m -- 3X. Or model is 5'10" with an average build and fits perfectly in the
regular mediums. The main closure consists of a lightweight nylon zipper with a
snap down protector and waterproof gusset.
Adjustability abounds on the 8502's with hook and loop tabs at the waist,
accordion style stretch panels on the lower back and knees, and more hook and
loop adjustability at the cuffs.
Protection comes in the way of CE approved padding in the knees with reinforced
ballistic nylon panels, and removable foam padding in the hips. Also, for
nighttime visibility, reflective piping has been added to the full length of the
There are zippered hand warmer pockets at the waist for storage and waterproof
zippered vents on the thighs for breathability.
Opening up the leg closure, reveals the flap protected, full length waterproof
zippers and fixed waterproof liner.
The only thing I would change on these 8502's is the lack of waterproof zippers
on the hand warmer pockets. You shouldn't get wet, due to the waterproof liner,
but a small amount of water could get into the shell in a hard or persistent
rain. Still, these are an amazing pair of motorcycle riding pants for the money.
