The Detour 8020 jacket is made of high grade top grain buffalo leather like
many of the other jackets in the Detour Line. What makes this leather unique is
the finish. For this jacket, the tanning process has left this leather with a
matte finish, instead of the semi glossy finish found on most buffalo leather
jackets, so you're getting the look of an ultra-premium naked cowhide leather
jacket, but for hundreds of dollars less. Keep in mind, buffalo leather can feel
a little bit stiff when it's brand new, but once it's worn a few times, it
softens right up and lays nicely on the body.
The 8020 is available in sizes medium to 4X, and the fit is accurate as per the
size chart on the listing. My boy Billy B.A., here, is 5'10" 160 and fits in
this medium perfectly.
Most of the features on this 8020 jacket are going to be familiar to all you
Detour fans. You get the lightweight nylon YKK zippers with leather pull tabs.
You get the mandarin style collar. You get the CE approved armor in the
shoulders and elbows with the foam back pad. You get the zippered vents in the
chest, on the arms, and on back, and the zippered panel for connecting your
jacket to your riding pants. You get the expandable cuffs for easy on and off
with the hook and loop tabs at the waist for added adjustability. You get the
expansion joints in the shoulders for added mobility. And finally, open the
jacket up and you can see the removable, full sleeve, quilted thermal liner that
gets you there on the colder days. You really are getting an amazing amount of
features on a top grain leather motorcycle riding jacket for the price of most
armor less split leather jackets.
