Size Chart for the AFX FX-39DS Urban Marpat Dual Sport Helmet
HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR CORRECT AFX HELMET SIZE.
1. MEASURE YOUR HEAD. Determine the circumference of the widest part of your head by using a flexible tape measure.
Generally, the widest part of a person's head is the area 2.5 cm (1") above the eyes and ears.
However, we suggest measuring at a few points both above and below that line to determine the greatest measurement before referring to our size tables.
We also suggest testing the fit of a helmet one size smaller and one size larger then what the chart recommends.
No helmet can provide protection if it's too uncomfortable to wear.
If you would like further detailed instructions on how to determine your correct size please look at our AFX Helmet Fitting Guide.
AFX FX39DS is a transformable dual sport offering that is perfect for you riders looking for a budget conscious helmet for on and offroad use. The FX39 is available in a huge size range from extra small to four X, and the fit is true to the size chart. These helmets will accommodate long oval head shapes, as well, which I’m here to tell you, can be hard to find. Let’s look at some features.
This helmet can be configured in three ways; the shield and visor together, just the visor by itself, and just the shield by itself. There are some goodies included with your helmet to help you facilitate this. The helmet will come from our warehouse with both the face shield and visor installed. To wear the helmet without the visor, remove the screw from the top and sides of the visor using the included tool. Install these included side plates where the visor connection would be. The small rubber plug included with your accessories goes in the open screw hole on the top of the helmet. To wear the helmet with the visor only, you simply remove the visor and the shield, and reinstall the visor. There is no extra hardware needed for the visor only configuration.
Ventilation on the FX39 is pretty good. The helmet breathes well. The only aspect of the ventilation I thought could be a little better is the switching. The buttons can be manipulated with gloves on, but they’re not comfortable to the touch, and they’re very small. The setup is fairly standard, with a two position chin vent for shield fog relief, two separate two-position vents near the top of the head. The two exhaust vents are controlled with a single, centralized switch. There are also two additional static exhaust vests on the rear of the helmet.
The liner of the FX39 is also pretty decent for the money. This liner is moisture wicking and removable and therefore washable. The liner comes out in the usual way, by first unsnapping the cheek pads. Then, remove the headliner from the back to the front. With the liner out, you can see the EPS foam liner that absorbs most of the impact energy in a crash.
