I had borrowed my brother's HJC IS 33 and really liked all the features and was going to order one and then I saw the HJCFG Jet High Visibility Helmet and decided to purchase it. However be advised the "Jet" helmets run about 1/2 size smaller than the IS-33. Had to send the "Jet" helmet back, and purchase my original choice because they do not make a 3X size and I must say that I'm very pleased with the HJC IS-33.

Wrap a tape measure horizontally around your forehead. Select the helmet that is the closest fit to that size. A helmet should fit snug on your head. If it moves while wearing, it is too large. If it is painful to wear, it is too small.

This was a very good price on an excellent helmet. I like that it has a clear full visor that really keeps the wind off your face but also has the smaller sunshade visor that's easy to put down & retract even with the clear visor down. The first time I lowered the sunshade visor, it pressed against my nose (fairly large nose). Fortunately, there is a stop position just above that which solved the issue.
I like the feel of this helmet. The vents keep your head from sweating.
Read the reviews and watched the video about this helmet and its ability to keep the head cool, which is a must for Texas in the Summer (or any season). I followed the size chart and ordered the recommended Large. When the helmet arrived it was a VERY tight fit and after several minutes of waring it, I began to have a head ache. I reached out to the customer service via chat and was emailed the return form and sent it back. In less than a week I had my new LX helmet and I haven't gone a day without wearing it. The helmet is a 5 star and Jafrum's service is a 10+.
Moving to a hot sunny climate and this was the perfect helmet with the superior venting and open face shield + flip up/down option on sunshield. A well designed product that I wish I had found earlier. Will be purchasing one for my lady upon arrival destination.@ Myrtle Beach SC August. ! Excellent color selections. My neighbor is also a happy owner who travels extensively in Eastern US.. Thank You
This is my third HJC helmet and the best by far. I especially like the flexibility of the wind screen and sun shade. I do a lot of open-road riding and those features make those trips a lot more comfortable.
Let me start by saying the return policy and service at Jafram is awesome and better then most sites I have used . I would say, equal to that of Amazon in my humble opinion. As for the helmet, the size chart suggested a L and it was too small but now that I have received my XL I couldn't be happier. Much quieter then my 1/2 helmet and the wind screen and integrated sun shield are nice and distortion free. The air-flow is plentiful and keeps my head cool. Worth every penny.
Great helmet for the price. Love the vents in the top. Light weight also.
Can't think of anything more you would want in an open face helmet. Comfortable, quiet, and great open vision.
Helmet has great features. The air flow channels keep things cool inside and the flip down visor is very handy. Very light and comfortable.
A great helmet. Fits well and looks good. Deliverd promptly. I especially like the sunsheild feature.
My measurement was right at the high end of medium, so I went with a large. The fit is just right. This is the best open face helmet I've owned. Sun shade works great and you never realize you're looking thru a visor.
I googled how to size a helmet and came across a Jafrum video. It was exactly what I was looking for to help me order a new helmet. I then went to the Jafrum web site to shop and found the HJC IS-33 Helmet and for a great price. I ordered it, got it a few days later and it fit perfectly. This is a comfortable and light weight helmet. Very happy with my purchase.
This is a great helmet especially with the sunglass insert . I would suggest that you get a size larger than usual because it fits tightly. Order came quickly as has other merchandise I have ordered from Jafrum.
I got the helmet 3 days after ordering. Tried it on and it seemed a little tight. I got the next size up as advised. Took a 1 hour ride to try it out. Kept my head cool and both visors worked great. I like the fact that it cut out most all wind noise up to 55 or 60 and still didn't have much, but I could hear my bike. I ride a Harley Dyna Super Glide Custom with windshield. After the ride it seemed the helmet had fit to my head. Couple more rides and it isn't tight anymore, just fits good. Great helmet.
Great Fit, Buy 1 size larger than normal would buy again!!!!
I'm a female, 2013 CVO Road Glide rider and this is my second helmet that I've purchased. I had my other one for 3 years and had to replace it due to dropping it/scuffing it up. I LOVE this helmet!! You can replace the shield if you like which is an awesome feature. I wear a medium and it fits perfectly. I have a Harley helmet that is a 1/2 helmet with a visor included and it doesn't even compare to this awesome one! Buy with confidence! My Favorite Helmet!!
Purchased 2 of these for the wife and I, and installed Scala intercom purchased from Jafrum for these helmets. Fit and finish are excellent, although I find size to be a bit snug. Likely it will conform after more use. Sun visor is nice, but a light shade. Airflow is great through the vents.
I bought this for my wife to replace her old worn out Shoei helmet. She likes having a faceshield and the fact that this one is a flip, with a flip down sun visor, makes it that much better. This is a quality helmet but sizes run small. The first one we got she could not even get on her head. Jafrum was great about the problem and took care of it right away. We ordered the next bigger size and it fit perfect. Mamas happy, everybody happy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the sizing.
2 Days after receiving our new helmets we went on vacation to upstate NY in the Adirondacks. The helmets performed superbly and even dampened a lot of road noise when the face shield was pulled down. The extra drop down smoke shield (Sun Shield Visor) was very much appreciated and worked smoothly. My wife and I really liked the IS-33 helmet and would highly reccommend it. Price is great for value of the helmet!
The IS-33 is one of four open face offerings currently available from HJC. It sits second in the pecking order behind the FG-Jet and in front of the CS-5N and the CL-33. The main difference between the FG-Jet and this IS-33 is the shell material. The IS-33 has a polycarbonate shell. It is very high quality, but doesn't have quite the impact absorption, or the ultra-light weight of the FG's fiberglass composite shell. The IS-33 is still very lightweight, though, weighing in right at three point two pounds.
The IS-33 has a similar polycarb shell material as the CL-33, but the CL-33 has simpler ventilation, and lacks the interior sunshade. The CS-5N is the value priced open face model with a thermoplastic alloy shell and intake only ventilation.
The IS-33 is available in six solid colors and numerous graphics and the paint quality is very good. Most helmets in this price point will have tiny bits of trash or imperfections in the paint, but these 33's look sharp.
It's available in sizes extra small thru double extra-large, and, like the IS MAX, I found the fit to be a little on the snug side. I have a twenty three and a half inch nugget, and the fitment chart suggests a large. This large fits a little bit too snug, though, although I do have a long oval head shape. I think this helmet will work best on someone with a more intermediate oval head form.
Let's take a look at some of the features. The IS-33 sports some pretty decent ventilation. The ACS, or Advanced Channeling Ventilation System works very well to introduce cool air into the front of the helmet, then extract hot, moist air out the back. This ventilation can be credited to two things. First, the helmet's shell is cad designed, so the placement and shape of the vents is optimized. Second is the multi piece, multi density EPS liner. The channels in this liner help to funnel air all the way through the helmet, from these adjustable crown vents all the way back to these Venturi's.
While we are looking at the EPS, we can also see the IS-33's Silver Cool liner. This is one of my favorite helmet liner systems. The wicking fabric is very soft and the padding is plush; it's definitely a helmet that is going to be comfortable all day. The liner also has vent holes which flow air directly to your head and assist in keeping the liner dry in hot weather.
The cheek pads are equipped with speaker pockets for adding a communication system, and the rear tab has been replaced with a patch of Velcro to make speaker adjustments very easy.
The feature on this 33 that surprised me the most was the shield system. In addition to the wide peripheral view and the clarity, the shield works really well with the eye port gasket to quiet road and wind noise. The baseplate system also works very well. To remove the shield, just press this lever toward the rear of the helmet and pull out on the rear edge of the shield. Just press the shield against the baseplate to reinstall.
The final feature in this IS-33 overview is the three stage, one touch, integrated sunshield. This system is almost perfect. The lever is easy to find with a gloved hand, and the shield comes down far enough that you're not looking at the bottom edge of the sunshield while you ride. If the sunshield doesn't come down far enough, your eyes are constantly refocusing and you end up with a headache. The only negative to this system is that the spring loaded mechanism isn't throttled when you release it, so if you don't guide the lever back, the sound in the helmet is extremely loud when the lever bangs against the bottom of the channel. The mechanism on the FG is throttled, and what a difference.
