Excellent rainy day boots

I live down in Central America and they rain has been tested thru tropical storms. Excellent boot, they allso offer good support and protection and the material is high quality. The only problems is te style. Like space boots, kind of bulky. If you are takin them to work better carry another pair of shoes.

Hold that thought

You will note that I have written a previous review which noted a design flaw but general satisfaction with this boot. I'm afraid I have to rerate this product. For the first winter I wore these boots I was pleased with them. Then just over a month ago the left boot leaked. I thought it was where the shifter peg rubbed on the upper part of the boot. I tried using 'Goop' to plug the leak but then I got caught in a downpour. I live on the west coast, I'm used to rain. This time it was clearly water coming in through the toe first. The right boot failed too. I was on the Washington coast and when I got to a bike shop and removed the boots, everything was so wet my socks dripped on the floor. Needless to say, I am no longer impressed with these boots.

Definitely 100% Waterproof

Have not yet had a chance to wear them riding as of yet. However the first weekend I had them I went to Savannah Ga. which recieved 3 inches of rain while I was there. I wore them while strolling along the riverside where all the bars are stomping through 3 & 4 inch deep puddles and my feet stayed totally dry. Will update on the riding part of these when it happens. So far I love the boots and would reccomend to any.

1 Problem

This boot fits well, keeps me dry, is comfortable but... Under the front flap is a quick lace-up system that has two weaknesses. First, if you don't tuck the quick fasten slider away properly it will bite into you, but not until after you've been rolling for a while. Second, the eyelets for the laces are fabric and the friction of pulling the laces snug will eat through them quickly and they tear out.

This is a men's boot that is part of the Patrol Series Icon released a few years ago. It is completely weatherproof and is a nice boot when you are commuting to work or riding.

It has a 100 percent reinforced durable leather upper and shifter interface nubs on the top of the shoe. These will help grip your shifter when you need to. While we are looking at the top of the shoe, notice the extra reinforcement Icon has put on the toe for added protection.

Moving on to the straps, we have dual adjustable stabilizer straps that are very sturdy and very strong. They hide the speed lacing system that is on the inside right there. It has a Velcro piece to keep your laces in place and an expander to keep you 100% dry.

As we move on to the other side, you'll notice a heat-resistant microsuede panel. This will protect your ankle if you rub up against your pipes.

With Icon, it has always been the attention to detail that makes them so great. All around the boot there is extra padding. Here we have temperfoam padding above the reinforced toe box.

There is extra reinforcement on the back. It does have a small amount of internal ankle protection over the lateral malleolus bone but not on the medial side of the ankle.

The sole is made out of a slip resistant rubber and it has a footpeg interface arch. There is foam sandwiched between two pieces of rubber to give your foot added comfort.
