The Sidi Adventure rain is one of three adventure tour capable boot options from Sidi including the Adventure Gore-Tex and the Armada boots. These Adventure rain boots are the least expensive of the three. These boots are essentially the same in construction and features as the Adventure Gore-Tex with the exception of the Gore-Tex waterproof, breathable membrane. The membrane used in these Adventure Rain boots are just as waterproof, but not as breathable as the Gore-Tex membrane.
These boots are available in U.S. sizes seven to fourteen and a half, with a surcharge of twenty bucks for the largest two sizes. The fit is surprisingly roomy for a European boot, but not as roomy as a boot with an American Cut. My feet run on the narrow side of E, though, and I can wear these no problem, which is unusual for Italian boots. For riders with narrower feet, the fit can be adjusted easily by adding custom insoles.
These boots have the all-day comfort of a touring boot, combined with the armored protection of an offroad boot, making them perfect for the rapidly growing adventure touring style of riding. The upper is constructed of a highly durable material called Technomicro, which is a synthetic leather that many feel is actually stronger than natural leather because there are no possible hidden defects.
The toe box and heel cup are heavily reinforced and the heel and ankle are protected by a hinged armor system that also promotes mobility and flexibility. The protection extends to the shin as well with a protective TPU plate that is incorporated into the adjustable top half of the boot that also features a heat and wear resistant panel on the boots medial side.
If you open this panel up as well as the two adjustable buckles, you can see the moisture wicking Trockenfuss liner and the removable and replaceable insole.
The outsole is made of a tacky, medium density material that offers good longevity, and excellent grip on just about any surface they may run into. They have an aggressive, work boot looking tread as well, to assist with traction when the ride turns offroad.
All in all, these Sidi Adventure Rain boots are an excellent choice for the rider who doesn’t stop exploring just because the road ends.
