Motorcycle apparel companies like Speed and Strength are doing a great job of offering gear that offers a high level of protection, using value priced materials in non-key areas. Now to be clear, there is no replacement for premium materials in premium product. And, if you’re going racing, you need premium product. But, this style of build offers higher levels of protection to street riders with smaller budgets, which I’m all about.

These Seven Sins gloves from Speed and Strength are part of a larger line including an SS1500 helmet, a leather jacket, a textile jacket, and casual apparel. They’re made of a combination of genuine leather and synthetics, and are going to be perfect for the street rider looking for an incredibly comfortable glove, that is going to provide a high level of protection, at a mid-level price. These are the best fitting, most comfortable gloves I’ve put on so far this season. And, at sub ninety bucks, they’re a home run.

Let’s start with the palm. The base layer is leather, which you can see on the fingers and throughout the thumb. The high impact areas are then reinforced with synthetic panels and padding. The highest impact area is fitted with a thermoplastic slider. The construction method that adds the most comfort to me is one that is still relatively new to motorcycle gloves and that is externally stitched seams. You’ll notice, here, that all the seams on the fingers are on the outside. Not only are external seams far more comfortable on your fingers, but the gloves have a much more precise fit, are more flexible, and require far less break in. While we’re looking at the palm, you can see the elastic wrist band that is complemented by a mini gauntlet with a hook and loop strap and a pad to protect your wrist.

If you flip the glove over to the top of the hand we can look at some more of the clever use of materials. The high stress areas like the sides of the fingers and the protective finger panels, as well as the piece of fabric that retains the knuckle protector, are made of leather. The balance of the hand, like this perf area with the branding, is synthetic. You get the higher end materials where it counts, but again, under ninety bucks! In addition to the materials, features also include ventilation in the knuckle protection and accordion style stretch panels in the index and exclamatory fingers.

All in all, these new Speed and Strength Seven Sins motorcycle riding gloves are an amazing cross between the high end and the value priced in a killer looking yet highly comfortable glove for the streets.
