I bought this to ride with my Quad. I knew I wanted a dual sport becasue I didn't want to bother with wearing goggles and I will be riding in the desert a lot so it's hot and I wanted to be able to open the shield for airflow. I also prefer to wear sunglasses when i ride. I loved the look of this helmet and was not disappointed at all when I received it. the quality is great and the padding inside was very comfortable. I also loved the quick release chinstrap and it's very strong and well made with metal ratcheting parts not plastic. Windnoise wasn't bad at all and airflow inside the helmet is great. First ride out I took a rock to the shield and it barely left a mark. There was a tiny bit of dust that collected on the inside due to static bonding but it easily wipes off. I love this helmet and it looks so cool. My friend kept saying how cool it was, like a fighter pilot helmet. Awesome graphics.

AFX FX-39DS Helmet Sizing
HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR CORRECT AFX HELMET SIZE.
1. MEASURE YOUR HEAD. Determine the circumference of the widest part of your head by using a flexible tape measure. Generally, the widest part of a person's head is the area 2.5 cm (1") above the eyes and ears. However, we suggest measuring at a few points both above and below that line to determine the greatest measurement before referring to our size tables. We also suggest testing the fit of a helmet one size smaller and one size larger then what the chart recommends. No helmet can provide protection if it's too uncomfortable to wear. If you would like further detailed instructions on how to determine your correct size please look at our AFX Helmet Fitting Guide.

This helmet runs big. I bought the XL and it was too big so I now have the LG and it fits perfect. I have a lot of experience with helmets /not my first rodeo.
Was considering a DS type helmet. Had tried a more expensive one on that was pretty nice but didn't fit my oblong head. Bought this because of the low price and am satisfied. It fits my oblong head and seems functional. Wore it once on a 300 mi spring ride with significant wind. Bothered a little bit by strong cross winds that made the face shield vibrate and tended to push the helmet sidewise. Popping up shield to fist open position helped in cross wind. Face shield fully down in tail and head winds OK. Only real knock is the face shield doesn't fully retract like expensive versions. It is out of the field of view but visible when retracted. Since I ride with glasses and wrap around sun glasses over my glasses, the lack of a flip down sun shade doesn't bother me. I think this is a significant improvement in safety over what I had been using. I like the quick release strap. Might like a better DS helmet when I settle on what I prefer helmet-wise but meantime this was a good investment as an introduction to DS helmet style.
Finally got to test ride my new helmet today. It was shipped rapidly, I just had no time. Fit: excellent, the cheekpads are a little snug for me though. Visor stays in position and the venting is EXCELLENT (over 100 F here today). Quick Release fastening is superb, even works well with gloves on. Try that with a D Ring helmet. I chose the Hi Viz yellow, and yes, it is vizable... for miles. Great helmet, Excellent service....
This is a great dual sport helmet, good fit and finish. I very happy I got it.
This is a great helmet and great fit for my XXL head. It is perfect while riding my KLR for on and off road uses.
Excellent value. Fits better than my expensive Arai helmet. No pressure point on the forehead.
This is a great helmet. I can't wear most helmets because they all seem to put pressure on my forehead. I guess I have an oblong shaped head. This helmet is the first one I've come across that fit me and didn't cost like 500.00. I'm very pleased. I use it on my ATV/UTV. I can skip the goggles because of the built in face shield. I'm gonna get the tinted shield for those bright sun lit days. But you can wear sunglasses under the helmet too w/o problem.
This is my 2nd one of these, as I was very impressed with the first one . Great fit and finish, with a comfortable interior. Quiet at normal highway speeds, with good ventilation. Overall excellent helmet at very reasonable price.
I really like the helmet. It is comfortable and a great deal for a great price. It is not too heavy, which is always an issue. The only thing for me is that I have a very small head and I went with a small instead of an XS, since I ordered on-line. Wish I'd gone smaller.
Have one for my self and wanted my wife to try it because I liked mine so much . It arrived on time and she took her first ride with it and was happy with the choice we made after trying two helmets prior. This thing slices through the wind with no noticeable wind force against the front of the helmet. She got up to speeds of over 110 and still no force of wind drag on the helmet and the viewing area is much better than other helmets that are full faced, the weight is much less also . Hopefully AFX will continue to make this helmet for a long time. I read the reviews on the noise but it is not that bad to me. Don't forget to take the visor off for high way speeds it will catch wind.
The helmet was comfortable. Looks great. Found out that the clear visor + my sunglasses leads to polarized distortion. Lots of wind noise. With visor on expect severe buffeting. Venting was great. Overall I would reccomend this helmet for adventure riding, or even cruising the backroads, but take the visor off for extended driving of 55M.P.H.
I purchased a pair of FX39 dual sport helmets after my fly trekker was damaged falling from a 7ft shelf onto concrete floor. The AFX is an identical shell, however the interior is much more comfortable and the "quick release" latch system is much nicer than d rings. The only negative is the breath guard that diverts your breath from fogging the shield is too small for my big nose. I had to trim it a bit. Other than that the helmet is excellent quality and very comfortable. I greatly prefer it to the fly trekker, Joe Rocket dual sport and for people with big heads (XXL) it fits better than the Shoei Hornet or Arai XD 3.
Great helmet but check your sizing. AFX seems to run just a tad large. Otherwise this a good value for the money
The fit was consistent with the size chart, the finish and interior are excellent. Overall function and appearance are of a much higher priced helmet. I am very impressed and happy with this helmet
Hello, I'm very happy with the product arrived perfect, thank you very much.
Helmet fit was right on. Somewhat quiet and good airflow for the price. A little tight for my Silhouette glasses but it works with regular framed glasses. I Highly Recommend.
I really liked this helmet. PROS: It was nice to Close it up when riding the highway between dirt roads. Great to have the quick change options while riding. Comfortable fit, quick release chin strap. CONS: started to get a bit foggy inside when temps dropped below 50 and speed below 40 mph. With shield closed, motor noise awareness seemed to increase. With screen up, visibility is impaired slightly. Overall, I am glad I got it. Great options.
Great fit and is very comfortable, but when riding in warmer weather at slower speed in the woods there is no air flow at all with the shield down. It gets hot and foggy very fast.
I bought one of these about a year ago and loved it so much, I just bought a second one (for when a friend rides my spare dual sport bike). The look, fit and function of this helmet is outstanding, and the price is even better. Great helmet with great features that greatly exceed the performance expectations for that low price. And to top it off, FREE shipping! Just can't find a better buy out there for your dual sport helmet needs. I highly recommend this helmet.
