These are solid, very stiff boots. The strap holds the laces tight against the boot so it doesn't blow around. Your feet and ankles are well protected in these. Got the size 11 and it fit well. The only problem I had with the boot, is, the toe is very thick. If you have limited room for your toe around the shifter, think twice before purchasing these. I have a Honda VFR Interceptor and there is little room in that area...the rubber on the top of the toe sticks behind the shifter and was a bit un-nerving. when coming to a stop. Probably better suited to a cruiser, so I returned them.

Exactly as advertised and exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a lower cut boot that was comfortable and stylish enough to wear when off the bike. These are that and more- comfortable, stylish, quick break in, and sturdy. The laces... Not so much. Just as others have stated, the laces wear QUICKLY, as in one week and they are showing wear and tear. I am retired military, these are called military boots but not the laces. I will be visiting the local air base to buy a pair of military boot laces. Would have given 5 stars but the laces and the fact that the buckle covering the laces can't be adjusted to actually touch the boot.
The Joe Rocket Big Bang 2.0 Boots are constructed very well. It has very thick soles which are oil resistant and has good sole pattern. The boot is true to size and fits well and I had to order a size up since there is no wide width versions of the boot. There is ample support in the foot, ankle, and heel area which makes it very sturdy for a motorcycle boot. These boots have a padded top section for shifting operation for either American or European bikes.
The boots are thick which makes it a bit harder to put them on for the first several times. After the break in period they become easier to get on and off. It would have been nice if there was a zippered system to get and out of the boot instead of lacing up with a narrow opening which cuts into the ankle if you are not wearing boot cut socks.
Overall the boots are a great buy. The price point is reasonable and they are made of high quality material. I highly recommend these boots for those who are looking for a good entry level boot with great price point from a great company.
Was looking for shorter boot than either my 10" engineering boots and came across the Joe Rocket Big Bang 2.0 boots. Decided to take a chance on them, partly due to Jafrum's great return policy. Once they arrived, I quickly worked my huge feet into them and wore them around the house for a couple of hours. Initially a little stiff in the sole, these boots loosed up after a day of walking around in them. Not uncomfortable, just a bit stiff. The ankle support is excellent, and the soles really grip the road when putting your foot down. After the first day of wearing them, they felt pretty good, and are about 90% of the way to be broken in. One complaint is that the pulls on the back of the boot are a bit flimsy, and one broke on me the first time I put some pressure on it. And I will probably replace the laces with a zipper closure just to make putting them on a bit easier. All in all, I really like these boots.
