Saddlemen Highwayman Slant-Style Classic Saddlebags.
The Saddlemen Highwayman Slant-Style Classic Saddlebags are throw-over bags made from a durable synthetic leather. These bags are stylish and have a dual-strap design with big, bold chrome-plated buckles. They also have a box-style lid, as well as an adjustable laced yoke construction that will fit most popular cruisers. In addition, rigid plastic backs and reinforced inner panels keep this bag from losing its shape when empty. These bags also boast another nice touch. There are large cutouts in the yoke, so you won’t have to relocate the turn signals on most bike models. These saddlebags come in three sizes. The medium measures 13”L x 6”W x 9.5”H. The large is 15.5”L x 5”W x 9.5”H, and the jumbo is 18”L x 6”W x 12”H.

Saddlemen Slant-Style Classic Saddlebag Installation Instructions
These versatile bags provide two mounting choices: Throw over mounting, Pony Express style, or custom fit. The throw over mounting utilizes a removable yoke and the bags hang from the fender or seat. Custom fit mounting is accomplished by bolting the bags directly to frame rails or fender or by attaching the bags directly to saddlebag support brackets, including several styles of quick disconnect brackets available from your dealer. Each of these two different mounting options is described below:
Throw Over Yoke Mounting
1. Attach the lid/yoke assembly to the main body of the saddlebag by inserting the suppied screws thru the pre-punched holes in the lid/yoke, saddlebag back, rubber and metal washers and tighten into the acorn nut. It is critical that the screws are installed in the order shown in figure A and tighten into the nuts. (See Fig A)Repeat for both bag assemblies.
2. Saddlemen saddlebags mount over the back seat or rear fender of most motorcycles, with one saddlebag on each side of the motorcycle and the mounting yoke resting on the fender or seat. Both saddlebags must be securely mounted and tied down in a manner that does not interfere with any part of the motorcycle's operation, including turnsignals, tail or brake lights, or the suspension or drivetrain.
3. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND that your bike be equiped with saddlebag supports which can be purchased through your local dealership where you bought these bags. Several styles are available, a typical construction is shown in figure B, the design for your bike will likely differ some - what. If you choose to install the bags without brackets, extra care must be taken to safely install the bags. Saddlemen universal tie down kit,may be of assistance.
4. Your saddlebags must be at least two inches clear of any exhaust pipe, while stationary and moving. You can adjust the yoke to change the height of the bag on the motorcycle by aligning the differrent holes in the two piece yoke and using the supplied draw cords to attach them. Adjust the yoke shorter for higher saddlebags, and vice versa. See Fig. C. It is critcal that you use both draw cords.
5. When you've placed the bag on your bike in the proper position, use the straps located on the bottom of each bag (Fig. F and G) to connect the bag to the saddlebag support. These lower straps are length-adjustable; wrap them around the support, buckle the ends together, then adjust the length so that straps are tight and they are supporting some of the saddlebags' weight. Trim any excess strap after the buckle is tightened to prevent entanglement with moving bike parts during operation. Burn or heat the strap ends, melting them to prevent unravelling. Do not operate bike with bags removed and straps still attached to supports.
NOTE: Saddlebags must not move around; if they do, you must tie them securely to your saddlebag supports. The use of zip ties, cable ties or Saddlemen Tie Down Kit may be used to secure the bags using the two attachment points at the bottom corners of each saddlebag.
Custom Fit Mounting
1. It is anticipated that the smooth back-side of the bags will be drilled to facilitate mounting directly to the fender or fender struts, to custom fabricated or ready made brackets, or to supports available through your dealer. Mounting bolts that pass through the bags amust utilize the supplied fender washers on each side of the plastic bag back to spread the the mounting load and stress over the largest area possible.
2. Most installations utilize the fender struts and their fender mounting locations for connecting the saddlebags and any brackets or supports to the motorcycle. Other locations can also include turn signal or top shock mounting points. Mounting points should be as far apart as possible
3. The saddlebags must be securely mounted to the motorcycle so that they can support any load that you intend to carry (less than 10 pounds per side) and so that the bags clear all moving or suspension components thru the full suspension travel, even when the bags are loaded. Be especially careful that the cantilevered bottom inside edge of the bag, and all other surfaces, clear all components such as shocks, swingarms, brake calipers, brake rods and lines, chain guard, etc. after installation. Be sure to load and compress the suspension through its full range of motion to check for clearance.
4. Inspect the bags immediately after first use to determine that the bags are not interfering with moving components. Inspect weekly thereafter to be certain that the bags are not contacting moving parts and that the bags are not developing cracks as a result of inadequate mounting support, especially around any holes drilled through the bags.
Note: if the bags obstruct the motorcycle's side marker reflectors contact saddlemen to purchase self-adhesive reflectors. If the installed bags obstruct the original factory turn signals or other reflectors, they must be movled where they are clearly visible from the side of the motorcycle.
NOTE: DO NOT connect any straps to flexible or moving parts (rubber mounted turn signals, swingarm, shocks)
NOTE: You must tuck away, tie, or cut/shorten all loose mounting straps BEFORE you ride the motorcycle. See warning information above.

I purchased these saddlebags on a budget and for the money, I got a nice set of saddlebags that look great on my bike. If they last, great, if they don't I can't complain either. I haven't used them a lot so I can't comment on the durability but they work for me. Can't Beat The Price
Just received these for my bike. Given the price, the quality was roughly as expected. The bags are synthetic leather and seem to be sufficient to carry everyday contents and like the rigid plastic inner panels that will help keep the shape. The seam is already coming a bit loose on one of the bags (literally just took them out of the box) which is unfortunate but I'm guessing I'll be able to stitch that up on my own to fix it. The main reason I opted for these ones over some of the leather options at similar prices is given the design they should hold up relatively well in the rain and I also liked the slightly retro look. Worst case these should last me a couple years and I can always upgrade afterwards.
Installed on a second 2000 FXDL (Dyna) (I have two) and installation was easy and fast. My other bike has permanently mounted Harley bags; and the medium size of these is the same size and looks similar for less than 1/7 the price. Concessions are permanent vs. throw over mounting, simulated leather vs. real leather, real chrome buckles vs. light chrome plated ones. Throw over mounting means you need additional mounting hardware and the bags will move when you open and close them because they are tied to the bike and mounting frame with "shoe strings." Can't legitimately comment on the durability but suspect these bags will not last the life of the bike like the Harley bags. For the price, I am satisfied because the bags do work and look fine.
These bags where a great buy shipping was fast. they fit perfect between the shocks and rear lights on my 2007 H.D. dyna superglide (fxd).
This is my second set of the highwayman. I just wish they came with quick release buckles or better straps. However,I did remove the liners from the old ones and added them to the new ones. Super solid.
The bags are fine & look good on my 1200C sportster but it was fortunate I had a leather extension strip from old bags so these bags would fit over the fender with my hd bag supports. I had to punch some new holes and I feel the bags should come with an extension piece.
The medium size is just what I was looking for to put on my Sportster. Everything else is just too bulky looking, and these hold a decent amount of stuff without the bulk. Simple, classy design. Good quality. Quick and easy to install and remove. The only thing that some may find to be a negative is that it does not have quick- release buckles, but I've always thought they detract from a quality look anyway.
